Claritza Abreu is a computer technology professional, an entrepreneurial business woman, a mother of two and an active member of her community. She was born and raised in the Dominican Republic where she received her BS in Computer Systems Engineering from the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology. After graduation she attended New York University in New York City, graduated with honors and received the certificate in Information System Analyst of NYU.Mrs. Abreu moved to the Massachusetts area in 1991, where she took a position at Dimock Community Health Center, working on programs that addressed issues of women and children with HIV/AIDS and children born under substance abuse exposure. In 1993, Mrs. Abreu took a position at the City of Boston Department of Public Health where she held several positions for a period of 12 years up to becoming the Director of the Information Systems Department of the newly formed Boston Public Health Commission; a position that she posted for five years. While at the Boston Public Health Commission, Mrs. Abreu was awarded the City Of Boston scholarship to attend to Boston University and received her Master's in Computer Information Systems. In October 2005, Mrs. Abreu moved on to much a higher position within the State Department of Mental Health as the Assistant Commissioner of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer where she proudly serves representing women and minorities in a high level position in the MA State government and in the technology arena.Mrs. Abreu is also natural entrepreneur; in the 2000 she founded her own computer business, International Computer Solutions Inc, a company that targets bilingual (Spanish) customers with the mission of bringing computer technology to the small businesses and to the low-income community. She is currently serving as a Region Coordinator for the South East Region, for a well known Latino civic engagement organization and other civic and political organizations.
