Lucy Joffe
Lucy received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Michigan, and her Masters in Education from Pace University.
She has volunteered for programs such as New York Cares, ProPeru Volunteer Clean Burning Stoves Project, Lives of Urban & Children Youth, and The Detroit Project providing a myriad of services.
Lucy tutored children and researched education models in Detroit, fed the homeless in New York, and helped build environmentally friendly homes in Peru.
She has also worked as an intern, and an aide in many different offices. As the Principal's Intern at University Prep High School in Detroit she mentored students through the AmeriCorps program. AmeriCorps also sponsors Teach For America which selected Lucy to teach ESL to elementary students in the under-resourced public schools in East Harlem, New York.
As a Classroom Aide at the Catherine Ferguson Academy, and as a Program Intern for MA Children's Trust Fund, Lucy assisted in teaching teenage moms, and reorganized databases for agencies dealing with child neglect and abuse.
Currently, Lucy works as a Legislative Aide to New York City Council Member Dan Garodnick, formulating his agenda, researching proposed legislation and preparing for committee hearings.
