Application Process

Application Process for 2012

Applications for the Class of 2012 are now closed. Please contact us for information on when applications for the next class will open.

 

Deadline

Completed applications will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the summer and fall. Applications submitted by the first deadline incur a non-refundable $25 application fee and those submitted by the second deadline incur a non-refundable $50 application fee.

October 7, 2011 -- $25 application fee

November 11, 2011 -- $50 application fee


Interviews

Emerge MA will review completed applications and select finalists for the Program.  Finalists will be invited to attend an interview with the Emerge Massachusetts selection committee. From these interviews, the 2012 Program members will be selected.

 

2012 Program Dates & Commitment

The 2012 Program will meet once a month on weekends from January 2012 to June 2012.  The following are the training dates in 2012:

  • Wednesday, January 11 (orientation, 5:30-8:30pm)
  • Saturday, January 21
  • Sunday, January 22
  • Saturday, February 11
  • Saturday, March 10
  • Sunday, March 11
  • Saturday, April 28
  • Saturday, May 19
  • Saturday, June 23 (+ Graduation)

The success of the Emerge Massachusetts program depends upon commitment to the program's entire schedule by each participant.  Over the six-month period, approximately 70 program hours are scheduled.  Some time outside of regularly scheduled seminars will be necessary for class preparation.

 

Tuition

Tuition for the 2012 Emerge Massachusetts Program is $500. Tuition includes six weekend trainings with top rated trainers and consultants, meals including breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout the training, and training materials. Emerge Massachusetts believes that individual financial circumstances should NOT be a barrier to participation in the program. Financial aid, including scholarships and payment plans, may be awarded after admission to the Program.

 

Selection Criteria

Emerge Massachusetts seeks bright, self-motivated women who are committed to effective and ethical political leadership. Criteria for selection include:

  • evidence of political leadership experience or potential, and meaningful involvement in workplace or community
  • interest in pursuing political office
  • demonstrated ability to bring together disparate groups to achieve a goal
  • ability and desire to build effective networks
  • ability to articulate a personal political vision
  • demonstrated ability to inspire others
  • commitment to full participation and attendance requirements of the trainings

Applicants must be Democratic women who reside in the state of Massachusetts.

Emerge Massachusetts will select between 20-25 women from Massachusetts who meet the above criteria and who we believe have the potential to be political leaders.
